Those who are new that seem to struggle with the word GOD. Take your Big Book out and tear each page that uses GOD in it.. When you have finished you will be able to read your new Big Book in about 2 minutes. WOW. By the way GOD is listed 298 times in the Big Book and the 12x12. Followed in the dictionary under Goals... That's some information I know you all have been waiting for..LOL. Love you all, Charlie V.

EVER WONDERED-“DO I HAVE A PROBLEM?”
If you’ve ever wondered if you have a problem with alcohol, sex, drugs, food, gambling or other such issues, the simple answer is “yes you do”.
Did it ever strike, people who don’t have a problem know they don’t. They don’t have to question. Those who ask themselves if they do, particularly when the question crosses their minds on more than one occasion; DO.
I know this from personal experience.
If you have a problem then there is a major next step. It’s call…

A year ago today,(and yesterday), I was in jail. Two years ago, (and many other years), I would awake and my first thought's were of my actions the previous night. " What did I do?" "What time did I go to bed?" " Any drunk calls?"
" Did I burn up PayPal with Ebay purchases?" All the while feeling physically sick.
This morning I awoke to a clean house, fresh coffee and the thoughts of the 12:30 AA meeting this afternoon. Looking forward to it and wondering if that guy or that woman will be there…

THE TEMPERANCE SOCIETY (7)
WHAT IS A “SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE?”
“A personality change sufficient to bring about recovery from alcoholism.” (A.A. P567)
It’s interesting to note here, that Bill Wilson, after being sober for 14 years, defined addiction as:
“A cancer of the emotions and the soul.”
So, I guess we could say that what we alcoholics have in common with people who SUFFER from addictions to marijuana, cocaine, crack cocaine, crystal meth, heroin, Oxycontin, Percocet, X…

AA Thought for the Day
Another of the mottoes of AA is, "Easy Does It." This means that we just go along in AA doing the best we can and not getting steamed up over problems that arise in AA or outside of it. We alcoholics are emotional people and we have gone to excess in almost everything we have done. We have not been moderate in many things. We have not known how to relax. Faith in a Higher Power can help us to learn to take it easy. We are not…

Remember those days when you walked around with a chip on your shoulder - daring any and all the hostile world to knock it off? Well, they did knock it off, and you were beaten and kicked at every turn. You were constantly fighting alcohol, and people, and things.
The day finally came when you had had enough; you were beaten to your knees; the chips toppled from your shoulder when you surrendered, and your burdens became lighter at once. Actually you had o…

Noon meeting today. Good speaker who could have been relating my story. Though he was Army and had a Harley, I was Navy and had a Honda, we both had soberity and chose an easy, softer way, which caused us to lose everything.
A reminder that I am not alone, my story is not so unique.
Had a chance to stand and pick up a 9 month chip, ( 9 months-5days.), yet I froze. I actually have a drawer full of chips,
but they couldn't keep me sober. Perhaps that played into my thoughts. I'm taking it slower…

Our Book has loads of promises - many for each step. I've heard it said over and over that the first step is the only step with no promises. I think that's wrong. Seems like there is one very huge promise in the first step.
Anyone?

THE TEMPERANCE SOCIETY (6)
In the introduction to the book ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, the original members of A.A. state:
“We are more than 100 people who have RECOVERED from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body.”
How did the original A.A. members RECOVER from a seemingly “hopeless” state of mind and body?”
“When we were approached by those in whom the ‘problem’ had been SOLVED, there was nothing left for us to do, but - pick up - the simple kit of spiritual tools laid at…

As you might remember, the head of a company survived
9/11 because his son started kindergarten.
Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.
One woman was late because her Alarm clock didn't go off in time.
One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike
Because of an auto accident.
One of them missed his bus.
One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.
One's car wouldn't start.
One couldn't get a taxi.
The one that struck me was the man…

AA Thought for the Day
Another of the mottoes of AA is, "Live and Let Live." This, of course, means tolerance of people who think differently than we do, whether they are in AA or outside of AA. We cannot afford the luxury of being intolerant or critical of other people. We do not try to impose our wills on those who differ from us. We are not "holier than thou." We do not have all the answers. We are not better than other good people. We live the b…

Reflection for the Day
"During acute depression," wrote AA co-founder Bill W., "avoid trying to set your whole life in order at once. If you take on assignments so heavy that you are sure to fail in them at the moment, then you are allowing yourself to be tricked by your unconscious. Thus, you will continue to make sure of your failure, and when it comes you will have another alibi for still more retreat into depression. In short, the 'all-or-nothing' attit…

The amount of compensation you get for your labors depends on the value of the currency, not the denomination of the bills. A million dollars in Chinese coin would break your back carrying it, but might not buy you a suit of clothes.
The greatest compensation would therefore be that which would buy those things which you need and want.
For services rendered your fellow men, God gives you his IOU, and they are better than cash on the line in any currency.…

WHAT ABOUT THE LOVE WE HAVE FOR OUR PARENTS, PARTNER, OR CHILDREN?
Once the cravings kick in, the love disappears, like the beautiful woman behind the magician’s cape.
WHAT ABOUT THE KNOWLEDGE WE ACQUIRED FROM TREATMENT CENTERS, ETC?
It turns to mush when the waves of obsessive thoughts, compulsive feelings, or physical cravings kick in. Our dilemma is that - we have no power - over the obsessive thoughts that incessantly race through our minds, n…

AA Thought for the Day
One of the mottoes of AA is, "First Things First." This means that we should always keep in mind that alcohol is our number one problem. We must never let any other problem, whether of family, business, friends or anything else take precedence in our minds over our alcoholic problem. As we go along in AA, we learn to recognize the things that may upset us emotionally. When we find ourselves getting upset over something, we mus…

Reflection for the Day
We're often told that alcoholics and other addictive persons are perfectionists, impatient about any shortcomings - especially our own. We tend to set impossible goals for ourselves, struggling fiercely to reach our unattainable ideals. Then, of course - since no person could possibly meet the extremely high standards we demand of ourselves - we find ourselves falling short. Discouragement and depression set in; we angrily punish ours…

If you are a person who likes his drink and yet has to forego his pleasure in order to retain some semblance of order in your life, you will naturally be miserable.
For you there is but one remedy. Get busy on the Program, talk it, work it, preach it, think it, pray it, live it - then you will find that you like it.

Congratulations for having 29 years sober yesterday & thanks for all the guidance you gave me when I was new to AA. I'm so grateful that you were given to me at my very first meeting.
She has moved to NC but we stay in touch over the internet, if needed, I can still phone her. In the beginning, I didn't think she knew what she was talking about, LOL. I'd rant my problems to her about the boyfriend, his family & friends. She'd say...."your number 1". It didn't matter what or who I'd comp…
