of course you don't have to "cower" to anyone. Have to accept an apology???? Hmm... How free do you want to be?

Funny, I never volunteered for a thing. My HG is likethe Army - you get volunteered. But I'll tell you what, doing something helped to make me feel part of the group and becoming a part of the group helped to get me out of myself - mostly my mind. A…

This one was just straight BB/steps. Two guys talking about and reading from the BB on each step for about and hour, then 5-7 guys called at random to share their experience. Go for that 4/5 Paul! We all are busy one way or another. I was too "busy…

Hey Paul it's your sobriety and really none of my business but being the busy body I am....why don't ya just make an appointment with your sponsor for one morning or afternoon this coming weekend to do your 5th step. Beeeest way I've seen to get tha…

yup Darin, AA is for da dum. Yup, yup, we're goin' ta da zoo. goin' to see da aminals. But seriously, t'was a great retreat - 60 guys with BBs in their laps and pens or markers in there hands. Nice format as well. 2 men "presented" each step from t…

yes yes - in a hurry. So I was restless, irritable and discontened - discontented is an adjective modifying the verb "to be[was]." If there is an "and in the phrase it has to be "discontented." Now this is really my last post this weekend. Leave it…

K, my parting shot for the weekend ( off to retreat). It's "restless, irritable discontent" (discontent is a noun) or "restless, irritable and discontented" (discontented is a verb). This hasn't a thing to do with post or the person who started the…

I like those 2. I know in very early sobriety I often ended a day beat from work and life things and just felt I should blow off a meeting. I think I went to maybe 3 meetings the first 2 weeks. One day while whining about being too tired to go to a…

Profile Information

What's your sobriety date:
May 8, 2008
What's the name of your home group:
6:00 Rush Hour (Daily home grp)/ Thurs Stag(weekly home grp)
About me:
I'm 51, divorced, ran and gunned for 35 years, and for 1 year have known a life I never before dared to dream was possible. The Fellowship of AA is my light; the Program of AA is my oxygen.

I have a 18 year old daughter who is brilliant and self driven and who today loves her "new" Dad. This August she is off to NY for college. I am accepting donations. Seriously!

I am an unashamed Big Book literalist. All the answers are within the covers of the BB(just don't forget the parts about looking beyond the first 164 pages - like, "Our book is meant to be suggestive only. We realize we know only a little."). I just do what you folks have told me to do: go to a meeting every day, have home groups, have service comittments, talk to my sponsor at least once a day, work the steps every day, pray every day, read the BB, work with others, and never forget to have a life beyond the rooms of AA. And when all that doesn't do quite enough, I turn up the stereo volume and wail on one of my harps. It IS a wonderful life.
Music:
good old rock and roll, blues, and jazz
Movies:
The best one recently is "You Kill Me," about a Polish hit man whose drinking is interfereing with his work, so the boss of this Buffalo Polish mob family sends him to California where he finds AA. Very funny. I also love "Idiocracy." Most anything that doesn't have martial arts as a central theme!

THE BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME - "To Kill a Mockingbird." Sorry "Casablanca" cronies, you are just wrong.
Television:
House, Law and Order, History and Discovery Channel
Books:
At 1 year, I'll stick to the Big Book
Relationship status:
Single
City:
Phoenix
State:
AZ

Is honesty something you use or is honesty something you live?

Experience and even opinions welcomed

Over the last year I have worked with a guy who has now gone out 3 times. This last time for several weeks. He just called and indicated he may be ready to come back and "if" he did hoped we could continue working together. I am conflicted on a number of fronts. First, since he went out a couple other men have asked me to sponsor them so I'm not confident I will be able to allot sufficient time and I don't want to be one of those guys who whittles "sponsee notches" in his belt at the expense of… Continue

Lol... speaking of pot holes... I always tell everybody "It isn't the mileage, it's the road damage!"

I get a reprieve today - SNOW DAY!!! The college is closed, so I have another day to finish that english essay, YES! Let my brilliance with wordiness show through, rather submit a so-so paper...

MISS YA ON HERE!

Nada! Just chilling like a villain. My big drama with the x has subsided but I owe her an apology. It seems that she has a legitimate gripe. One of the guys came home the other night a wee bit tipsy and was making some bad choices. I would not want my daughter to be around that, I just was being naive. How are you doing?

I am going to have to agree with you again. At least on half, the rude awakening, Ill get back to you on the other half when I get there. :) I must say I am "experiencing" the steps in this. Some one broke it down for me as to how we apply the disciplines of each step to the situations that crop up. My sponsor told me perhaps it was fear triggering anger, I did not want to hear that and wanted to blame. It took some time to accept but the outcome was fear.

Thanks again. I like that "rude awakenings" matter of fact I found her behavior to be quite rude. lol...
