As I sit here after having had payed 2 of my house-hold bills, " We suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves " These things may seem small to "normal people " but, they don't realize what these little things mean to a recovering Alcoholic. Taking care of things is something most of us are not used to. I have a spiritual awakeing most everyday. I love the promises in The big Book, they always matteralize if we work for them. Being an Alcoholic like they say is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. I just filled out 2 Christmas Cards , this is a first for me. Remember the Reason for the Season.
It is the little things Dave, yesterday i showed up at my parents house baring gifts and sober, also helped them with their grocery shopping it felt so good especially the sober part....GODSPEED
Hang tuff Alvin - enjoy your parents while you still got um, I always felt for some reason they would always be there, they are in my heart , but they are dearly missed. God Bless you and yours.
"I have a praise report" My stepfather gave me a card that read santa said you have been good this year and I believe him, so your loan of $1000. is paid in full. Its not about the money its about the restoration of our relationship. I cant express in words how that mades me feel. Just a few years ago we were at odds with one another to put it lightly. This is one of the many lifes I ripped through. It so amazes me what happenes to us as we go along. I love this program!!!
Its great to hear that your family relationships are mending. Like the Big Book says "We are like a tornado roaring through the lives of others" and 99% of the time those others are the ones that care about us the most. I thank God everyday for all the little things that happen because of my trust in Him. God Bless you and yours - Happy and sober New Year
