Gonna be offline for about a week...

I am moving into a new place, and forgot to get my dsl service up and running. SInce I live in the "black hole" up here in the Four Corners, it may take up to a week to get back online permanently... SO, pass it around, Dawn will be pretty hit or miss for a week or so?

I will miss everyone, and try to get back online to check emails, blogs etc when I can!

Have a great week everyone!

Keep the faith-Dawn

People

people can get on my ever lasting nerves .. There is always 1 person who can get to you, more than anybody else. Its crazy , but i do have to thank AA for showing me my path to my spiritual side. Dont know how i could overcome this alcoholism ...... ism.. is a hell of thing ... without my HP guiding me and opening my path . This fellowship of AA has certainly changed my life. and i wouldnt change anything about my past , cause all that bad shit, led me to this beautiful fellowship. I am very gra… Continue

BUTT PRINTS IN THE SAND

One night I had a wondrous dream,
One set of footprints there was seen,
The footprints of my precious Lord,
But mine were not along the shore.

But then some stranger prints appeared,
And I asked the lord,"What have we here?"
Those prints are large and round and neat,
"But Lord, they are to big for feet.

"My child,"He said in somber tones,
"For miles I carried you alone.
I challenged you to walk in faith,
But you refused and made me wait.

"You disobeyed,you would not grow,
The walk of faith,you… Continue

March 13, 2010 - Today's Gift from Hazelden

Saturday, March 13, 2010
Today's thought from Hazelden is:

The most important thing we are doing right now is thinking nice thoughts.
--Jim and Marie Burns

Just thinking nice thoughts sounds so simplistic, doesn't it! Surely there is more in life to contemplate than that. But the power of nice thoughts, the impact just such a simple decision can have on our lives and the lives of everyone around us, is awesome.

Having nice thoughts and only nice thoughts is a significant departure for most of… Continue

Personality Change

"It has often been said of A.A. that we are interested only on
alcoholism. That is not true. We have to get over drinking in order
to stay alive. But anyone who knows the alcoholic personality by
firsthand contact knows that no true alky ever stops drinking
permanently without undergoing a profound personality change."

A new day, a new life...

Wow, it *has* been forever since my last blog!!!!!

School keeps me so busy and so does life, in general. It's good to have a life, ya know? I feel like I really have been "reborn". I like it, too. That's pretty new - the lack of fear, the great feeling of being free... for the first time in my life I get to have MY life. Kind of an odd thing to say, I know, I know. But, for so much of my life, I have lived at the whims of other people. I am 46, and I am feeling like a 26 year old! How many peop… Continue

March 13, 2010 - Twenty-Four Hours a Day

Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Saturday, March 13, 2010

Thought for the Day
We've got rid of our false, drinking selves and found our real, sober selves. And we turn to God, our Father, for help, just as the Prodigal Son arose and went to his father. At the end of the story, the father of the Prodigal Son says, "He was dead and is alive again, he was lost and is found." We alcoholics who have found sobriety in AA were certainly dead and are alive again. We were lost and are found.

Am I alive again?… Continue

Reflection for the Day
All my life, I looked to others for comfort, security and all the other things that add up to what I now call serenity. But I've come to realize that I was always looking in the wrong place. The source of serenity is not outside, but within myself. The kingdom is within me, and I already have the key. All I have to do is to be willing to use it.

Am I using the tools of The Program on a daily basis? Am I willing?

Today I Pray
God… Continue

The Eye Opener
Saturday, March 13, 2010

When God makes a tree, it is exactly the species, size and shape He intended it to be. Nothing the tree can do will alter it in the slightest degree.

God, however, in His Wisdom, created man with all perfection, yet allows him to make of himself what he will. He gave us independent minds and wills because He intended that we, the highest form of all living beings, should work out our own mental and moral evolution from morality to immortality.

March 13, 2010 - Just for Today

Just for Today
Saturday, March 13, 2010

Just for today, considering contemporary emerging developments in pharmacology that a vaccine may be pending in the treatment of alcoholism and other addictions, I will not waste any thought on the myth that I might return to responsible drinking some day. An "addiction vaccine" may, in fact, treat and even stop addiction from developing. But researchers caution that any vaccine treats only physical dependency, and alcoholism is a three-pronged condition… Continue

Hope
Having come to believe that I keep what I share,
every time I encourage, I receive courage. . .
With the grace of God and the Fellowship of AA,
I trudge the road of happy destiny.
May I always remember that the power within me is far greater
than any fear before me.

got gave us the changing seasons to remind usthat all of life will be filled with constant change.I will never be the same person I was before or even yesterday, and tomorrow.I will change some more from what I am today.the snows of winter give way to the flowers in the spring.so it will be with my life.if I stay close to god,the drab winters of my life will eventually give way to the beautiful flowers..niether the flowers or the trees fear the coming of winter.they follow the dictates of god an… Continue

I AM YOUR DISEASE

I AM YOUR DISEASE

I hate meetings.
I hate Higher Power.
I hate anyone who has a Twelve Step program.
To all who come in contact with me,
I wish you death and I wish you suffering.
Allow me to introduce myself.
I am the Disease of Alcoholism.
Cunning, baffling, and Powerful.
That’s me.

I have killed millions, and I am pleased.
I love to catch you with the element of surprise.
I love pretending I am your friend and lover.
I have given you comfort, have I not?
Wasn’t I there when you were lonely?… Continue

Judging others- the half-empty glass

Praising others should be part of our daily life and a component of our spiritual practice. Imagine what our life would be like if we trained our minds to dwell on others' talents and good attributes. We would feel much happier and so would they! An interesting experiment is to try to say something nice to or about someone ...just for today- starting today. Try it. It makes us much more aware of what we say and why. It encourages us to change our perspective so that we notice others' good… Continue

reasons

Today is a better day in a way to my recovery. 1 I know that i dont need alcohol in my life to be happy. How i no this is because my kids make me happy everyday. I have the 7 yr old tell me that he was proud of me that i dont drink anymore and im more fun to be around. 2 I have god in my life and when i get the devil to tempt me he will be their to take care of everything. In that I am safe, I feel his presence, his warmth, and his acceptness toward where my life is heading. Which is a great fee… Continue

Gratitude

Just for today I thank God for the rain that makes the flowers grow and puts new leaves on the trees. I thank God for beautiful gray cloud formations and I look forward to the sunny days ahead. I thank God for the rain to moisturize the fields that need plowing and I pray for the farmers to have a good season. I thank God for plenty of food and the means to buy more as I go out to do the groceries. I thank God that there is enough to share and I pray to share it with someone in need. I know He w… Continue

March 12, 2010 - Today's Gift from Hazelden

Friday, March 12, 2010
Today's thought from Hazelden is:

There are important steps I need to take if I want new relationships to last.

I need to allow a new relationship to grow in a healthy way by giving it the time it needs. When I go too fast in a relationship, necessary stages are overlooked, and I might find myself in a relationship destined to fail. When trees are planted and their roots aren't given enough time to grow deeply into the soil, they're sure to fall during a storm. When the… Continue
